first things first - what is this?
rEPLICATE yESTERDAY’s uNIQUE. was started from the idea that artists aren’t what they used to be. artists have one hit and can’t continue that momentum into a long-term career. while yes, the industry is volatile, that shouldn’t mean that your success should burn out in less than a year. if you managed to capture something that resonates with people, if you managed to capture a unique feeling, then why shouldn’t you be able to continue replicating it?

don’t get me wrong - “replicate” does not refer to the art, rather how the art makes you feel. everyone has that song that they wish they could hear again for the first time. that feeling is special, something that can’t be recreated…or so you would think. that’s the objective for ryu.
it’s also a part of my identity - ryu comes from my middle name (龍), and as some may affectionately know me, KIDRYU. while i’ve left that chapter behind, music is still a part of my life. a part of my dreams.
it’s important to keep all the best fragments of your past: sort of like a sieve of time. leaving the best parts while letting the parts you don’t need flush through. i’m still keeping the dream alive, almost 8 years later, but it’s evolved over time, taken new shapes and forms. after all, that’s what life is about. evolving, changing, it’s all part of human nature. that’s what we’re going to keep pushing here for the artists we work with.
